Strategy Groups

The 2013-2014 Strategy Groups (Youth Employment & Migration) will take place from June 10th-12th 2013 in The Hague, The Netherlands

Do you have what it takes to become the next Barroso? This is your chance to let Brussels know what you think! The future of Europe? You decide! The European Student Think Tank is organizing Strategy Groups focusing on European Migration policy and European Youth Employment policy.

We are looking for a small group of Europe’s most driven and knowledgeable students with a passion for EU-politics. We will give you the opportunity to sit down with students from different countries, cultures and disciplines to discuss, analyze and come up with solutions for the European Commission.

What is an EST Strategy Group?

An EST Strategy Group will focus on an issue in or an aspect of the European community and will come up with strategies for future policy in order to tackle this particular problem.

Who will participate in a strategy group?

The members of a strategy group preferably consist of 15 students, from different European countries. Two members will take the position of chairperson, the remaining 13 will be regular members.

So, what is in it for the participant?

  • Relevant experience in your field of study;
  • Opportunity to go ‘in depth’ in a particular field of knowledge;
  • Work in an international environment, in an interdiscplinary manner;
  • Experience with qualitative as well as quantitative research.

The role of the members is primarily based on content and ideas. They will have less responsibility and will be less occupied with spreading the group’s ideas. Nonetheless, participation in a Strategy Group forms a great opportunity to dive into a certain area of European policy and gain expertise and experience in this field.

The EST Strategy Groups offer you:

  • Fully organized three days in the international city of The Hague
  • Your reports with policy advises will be handed to the European Commission
  • An official EST Strategy Group Certificate

  • Opportunity to profoundly study and analyze a particular issue
  • Opportunity to work in an international and intercultural environment
  • Opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary manner
  • Develop research skills: qualitative and quantitative research skills, present your findings in a report
